  1. Take a moment to reflect on:How does being a member of the Guiding Coalition affect your perspective of your work?
  2. Find someone not at your table....or that you aren't married to: Share your name, role and your answer to the question.
  3. Go back to your table.

  1. Read the Communication Plan and highlight key ideas.
  2. Review your highlights and star your top three messages

Use the following and complete as a table group.
  1. Each person shares their 3 starred messages. As a table group identify 3 key ideas from the plan.
  2. As a table group, choose 2 words that describe your role (as a coalition member) in communication.
  3. Identify 1 question your table has about the Guiding Coalition Communication Plan.

Group Debrief:
  1. Share your 2 words and and 1 question.

Process:

Background Information on Inspiring Action - First Word, Last Word
  • On your Own:
    • Read pages 5 to 8
    • highlight words, sentences, phrases that stand out for you personally
  • With your group:
    • Number yourselves off 1 to 5 (around your table)
    • Person #1 - shares one of his or her highlighted items, BUT DOES NOT comment on it
    • Person #2 - makes a brief comment around what Person #1 shared
    • Person #3 - follows Person #2 sharing their brief insights around Person #1's highlight
    • Repeat the process until you are back to Person #1
    • Person #1 - gets the LAST word
    • Repeat the process, starting with Person #2 sharing one of his or her highlighted items, BUT DOES NOT comment on it
    • After everyone has had a chance to share an item, take 5 minutes to bring up any unexplored items you feel need mentioned

  • Large Group Debrief - Based on the front matter of Inspiring Action, what stood out for you?

Data Gathering from the Field

Before January 21, visit with at least two people representative of your stakeholder group and ask the following questions and record their responses:

1. What message would you like brought back to the CESD Guiding Coalition?
2. What do you feel should be included in the knowledge, skills and attitudes of an educated Albertan?
